Feng Shui Colors For The Bedroom

Feng Shui is about balance and harmony in our environments. The bedroom is a very important room (we spend the majority of our day there), so many people naturally ask how to improve their bedroom using color selection according to Feng Shui. As we discuss bedroom colors, it is also imperative to recognize the importance of the other rooms in your house. Enhancing your bedroom without enhancing the other beneficial areas of your home does not provide you with the full benefits of Feng Shui. Feng Shui is about balancing the energy in your complete and total environment.

With that said, here are some Feng Shui tips to consider for your bedroom

Dont overdo the bright colors in your bedroom. Bright colors are alive and moving, so the more bright colors that are used, the harder it will be to stay asleep. This also applies to plants and especially water. Plants and water manifest yang energy, and cause the same issues in the bedroom as bright colors. The colors associated with plants and water are green, black, and blue. Bright colors to avoid are reds, strong oranges or bright yellows. Florescent colors are out of the question!

Pictures of moving water can also cause problems. If youve got a picture of a waterfall, river, or ocean in your bedroom, its a wise idea to move it. Unfortunately, aquariums in the bedroom can also cause sleeping issues and should be moved. Although you should avoid red in the bedroom, a little touch of red can spice up your sex life! (Red is fire, so lit candles count as red.)

Dark colors (shades of brown) should be used in the dcor of the bedroom, but not on the walls. Painting the bedroom walls a dark color might help you sleep, but wont help you feel rejuvenated in the morning. Darker colored dcor should be used to the point of tilting the rooms ambiance yin, without making you feel like youre party to a funeral. You dont have to just use browns, pick darker colors and designs that are relaxing for you.

If youre room is already very dark (wood paneled, for example) and you cant make changes to it, you might want to consider changing any yellow light producing light bulbs to brighter, whiter bulbs. Opening the blinds during the day will also dramatically improve the rooms feeling. If its dark at night, balance it with brightness during the day. (Clearing any room occasionally by opening all the blinds is extremely beneficial.)

In painting the bedroom, using pastel colors is your best bet. The best colors to use depend on the compass direction of the rooms location. To determine the compass direction of your home, draw your houses outline on a piece of paper, and split the home into 9 equal sections (3 down, 3 across). Use a compass to find which direction is north, and label each box according to that compass direction (North can be in a corner). Here are the color combinations:

– NE, Center, or SW: Rooms located here should be painted pastel earthy colors, including light shade of yellow.
– NW or W: Rooms located here benefit from metal, so use a shade of white.
– SE or E: The SE and East benefit from the color green, but you may want to only use these colors if the room will be used as a study. Then a shade of green would be perfect. Otherwise, use pastel earthy colors including shades of yellow. White is not helpful here, as it destroys the productive properties of the SE and East. These directions are associated with wealth.
– S: The South benefits from red. If you want to use red here, use it sparingly as too much will cause restlessness in bed. Use shades of white for the walls.
– N: The north benefits from blue and black (water). Since you cant use water, try white instead, as white (metal) will help with the benefits of water without using water.

I know this might be a letdown, as some of you reading this were hoping to hear painting a room florescent orange would make you an international movie star overnight! But Feng Shui is about balance and harmony, so using light, pastel colors is your best bet when painting the walls.

Asian Arowana – An Insight Into This Great Arowana Fish

The Asian arowana is more commonly known as the Chinese dragon fish in the local areas where it is found. There are great myths and legends that surround this great fish which have lead to its popularity as a pet in many households worldwide. The Asian arowana has now become one of the most valuable and collected fish in the arowana breed. In Asian and Chinese folklore the arowana fish is said to radiate luck, wealth and prosperity onto its owner and household.

This arowana fish is a freshwater fish that is to be found in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. These great fish which have lived on the planet for almost 140 million years have remained virtually unchanged in this time period which is remarkable. They are known to grow to between 3-4 feet in length in an aquarium but have been known to grow bigger in there normal environment.

The arowana itself like most of the breeds of arowana is a carnivore. Basically it will eat most fish or animals that is small enough to put in its mouth. So you are looking at a basic diet of small insects, frogs and even small birds. This fish can also jump from the water if needs be to catch its prey and has been known to jump up to 1 meter out of a river. Its this arowanas slender long muscular body which gives it the arrow like jumping ability.

As stated before, this breed of arowana fish is the most collectable and most valuable of tall he wild arowanas today. With this title comes a down side, the Asian arowana has now become very scarce and has been placed on the CITES endangered list. The CITES treaty is one of the toughest and most restrictive forces on international trade and there is heavy penalties in many countries worldwide for the illegal owning of an Asian arowana. In the U.S., owning one of these fish is completely prohibited under the Endangered Species Act (except for public zoos and aquariums, if they can obtain permits).

The reasons for the scarcity of the Asian arowana can come down to a few factors.

1. Over fishing for food by local communities in southeast asia.
2. The illegal catching of the wild Asian arowana for the aquarium trade. The red and asian arowana is used in the set up of feng shui aquariums and they command high prices.
3. With town and city expansion today the arowanas natural environment and breeding grounds are becoming smaller and under pressure, leading to the disappearance of the fish.

To combat the disappearance of the great Asian arowana CITES have set up a number of monitored fish farms in southeast Asia to supply fish to the aquarium trade. Each fish bred and sold from these fish farms is documented with a certificate and implanted with a microchip. This is to help clamp down on illegal arowana coming into the supply system.

The book is a goldmine of information on topics such as symbols, codes and astrology. Ancient Chinese philosophers and wise sages derived this information. One thing that is particularly interesting is the information about face moles meaning.

It is believed that facial moles have interesting meanings. However, this only applies to a prominent, single mole. Small moles, spots, freckles and acne do not count. The position of the prominent mole is the key to the meaning thereof.

Positions one, two and three are located in the center of your forehead. It is believed that children with moles on in those locations are rebellious. They are also creative and have a relaxed attitude about life. As an adult, you may be a successful entrepreneur who would rather be self-employed.

When you find the single mole above your eyebrows in the center of your eyes, it would be symbolic of flamboyant person that will have a bubbly personality. Eft For Dyslexia Part 1

Word blindness – Dyslexia – is a developmental state that interferes with the acquisition of written language. Dyslexics also show distinct brain differences to those who do not have Word blindness. EFT can be very useful in the management of Dyslexia.

Tricia (not her real name), arrived with Dyslexia, which was interfering with her full enjoyment of life and had been ever since she could remember – in class, during her work and in the family. Tricia wa ready to try anything – including EFT!

Word blindness affects both reading and processing, so we decided on a course of EFT sessions, each dealing with different aspects of the condition.This article, Part 1, and the next one, Part 2, are shortened descriptions of the way we approached Tricia’s Dyslexia.

Tricia selected some events she recalled from school, in Maths and English classes.

We have all been there in the maths class: marks are gained from the working out, rather than ending up with the right answer.The sequencing of the working out is a real challenge for people with word blindness, who are likely to know the answer instinctively and, since the working out is intuitive, they dont really realize how they got there. Although teachers understand about Dyslexia being about reading, they don’t understand the intuitive leap portion of it. Children become more and more anxious the more they experience these situations they cannot explain to their teachers.

The first part of the session, therefore, dealt with the difficulty of breaking the process up into steps and the teachers attitude to her difficulty:

The maths teacher had apparently been quite sympathetic to Tricias difficulties, unlike the English teacher, who had been, from Tricias point of view, thoroughly unpleasant.

The dyslexic intuitive jump can be really fantastically helpful in adult life – who would not aspire to tally their cheque book so easily? Tricia had by now begun to understand how much she appreciated and relied on her subliminal dyslexic talents, so we did some thankfulness tapping:

When I asked Tricia to tell me in what order she put her clothes on in the morning (a sequence generally difficult for dyslexics, she was able to do so easily).

She explained to me soon after that, not only was she able to work out the steps involved in quite complex activities, but also as a side product, her bond with her brother had improved dramatically.
